2018 Goals: A Summary

Over the past few weeks I have shared my goals for 2018 in three aspects of life: personal, professional (blogging/writing), and recreational (reading). With the new year looming (January 1st is on Monday!), I wanted to post a summary of these posts, hopefully to inspire you and to keep me accountable in the coming year!

Here they are, my goals for 2018:

  • Personal
    • Successfully complete two Whole30s (in January and August)
      • Join or follow along on Instagram with the hashtag #findinglandwhole30
    • Track my calorie intake for at least 200 days
    • Be active in some way for at least 250 days
      • Including hiking a couple times a month, post-move
  • Professional
    • Blogging
      • Publish a blog post every Tuesday and Friday morning
      • Have posts scheduled up to two weeks in advance
      • Publish a review of every book I read as I read them
        • This is in addition to posting twice a week
    • Writing
      • Finish the first draft of Tears in the Garden
      • Write for at least one hour a day, five days a week
  • Reading
    • Read a total of 150 books
    • Read or use as a reference every book on my bookshelf
      • Join or follow my challenge on Instagram with the hashtag #findinglandbookshelfchallenge!
    • Read through one of my daily devotionals
    • Read all the way through the Bible

  1. Personal – Health
    Successfully complete two Whole30s (in January and August) with Reid and Rose
    Join or follow along on Instagram with the hashtag #findinglandwhole30
    Track my carbohydrate intake for at least 325 days
    Be active in some way 325 days – meet or exceed one hour of activity per day as registered on Samsung Phone.
    Ultimate goal is to loose 50 lbs during the year to reach a goal weight of 185 lbs.

    Personal – growth
    Read a total 12 books (one a month) leisure or Christian – NOT WORK related
    Pray with family (Debbie and or Baylee) at least five time a week, even when traveling.
    Read through a daily devotional for men.
    Read all the way through the Bible

    Professional
    Be more focused on daily tasks to ensure reports are distributed no less than daily (M-Th)
    Publish previous days daily reports prior to 0800L daily (M-Th)
    Post daily NMC report data for the week, to the PBL Monthly Master for each week prior to COB Friday
    Work towards documenting effective PBL NMC adjudication process for EEL and ALIS issues.

  2. My goals: lose 25 more pound (20 lost in 2017)
    Travel to 5 or more countries.
    Walk 1200 miles
    Listen to audio bible at least twice through
    Go to Disneyworld
    Read 12 books
    See 3500 patient visits

  3. Ok, haven’t really been a goal setter so this will be new for me. I can see the good in it to give me something to aim for and also for accountability. Mine is short but a good start:

    Health: Toning exercise at least 4x’s a week.

    Train to beat my 9k time of 2017 in 2018

    Stick to 30 days in Jan. of eating meats, veggies, eggs and healthy fats. Will adjust after January.

    Reading: Read my Bible through in a year.

    Read The Case Against Sugar in the month of January.

    And get use to using a daily planner to plan and keep track of my goals.

    Goals for 2018:
    Finish my Master’s Degree
    Have a simple conversation in Chinese
    Travel to one new country
    Learn to Relax
    Make plans towards a PhD
    Have a “no-spend” month
    Learn to Relax
    Get a Tattoo
